Anna Auzins Interiors were chosen to design the interior of this impactful double-fronted Victorian house. The two front rooms serve as home offices to a professional couple, and therefore comfort as well as practicality had to be carefully considered. The rooms are home to their immense library, which also provides a place to proudly display their treasured artwork. A stunning large Burlington surround from Chesney’s Contemporary collection, with black slate slips and hearth and a Stanhope fire basket was installed as part of a refurbishment.
This house was completely remodelled and reconfigured to suit a family with two teenage boys. It was essential to retain the original Victorian grand front rooms, and enhance the properties unique character. With the traditional foundations in mind, contemporary pieces of furniture were selected which created impact in a complimentary way.
To allow these two rooms to feel personal and creative, colour was consciously injected into pieces of furniture, producing a much-needed bold impact against the book’s spines backdrop. Modern pieces of cherished artwork seamlessly complimented the space that surrounded it.
The artwork displayed above the Chesneys’ fireplace inspired the striking colour theme, with orange and blue found throughout in the sofas, armchairs, storage unit and cushions. Similar patterns were seen in the cushions and teal ombré sideboard from Bethan Gray, which enhanced the element of cohesiveness.
An impressive bespoke wrap-around library was created to make certain that the client’s extensive book collection would create numerous feature walls in the room. Sitting comfortably on the upholstered furniture, the client feels literally immersed in their reading.
